Green train chugs on elevated corridor

Last Updated 02 March 2013, 19:33 IST

The Green train chugged along the elevated corridor near Peenya for the first time,  as part of its trial run that began in the north line of Namma Metro between Sampige Road in Malleswaram and Nagasandra on Saturday.

It covered the 2.5-km stretch from Peenya depot to the first two stations at Peenya Industrial Area and Peenya Village.

Trial run to extend

“The train would continue to shuttle between the above points every day. Once the other stations and corridor works are complete, the trial run would be extended further,” said a senior official from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).

The official said they were hopeful of commencing the trial run up to Sampige Road by May.

Commercial operations along the north line may begin by this year end, said another official.
