Designer Manoviraj Khosla has a style of his own. Every item of clothing he designs has a unique touch, which stems from his different way of thinking. He always strives to introduce a special element to his clothes and doesn’t shy away from experimenting.

Manoviraj has showcased his work on some of the most prestigious stages across the world but even now, he is always inspired to bring out something new. His designs are varied — whether it is a velvet jacket, silken frock, a printed dress or a shirt, his unique style stands out.

His latest line of clothing has an enviable collection of evening wear, comprising dresses, shirts and jackets. The silk velvet jacket with Swarovski work on it stands out because of its cut, while the printed dresses catch the eye because of the delightful interplay of colours.

“They are bright, funky and can be worn to just about any occasion. Tweak the outfit a little and the garment takes on an identity of its own,” explains Manoviraj.
He has also put together a set of off-white evening dresses with intricate designs. The neutral, off-white shades are accentuated with a tinge of black lace to bring out the wearer’s personality. Each dress has a wonderful fit, which adds to its charm.

The designer has also played around with various prints on plain shirts. On one, he has used the cycle series; on others, he has painted
worli artwork, trees and hand prints. “This is something I just chanced upon and it has worked rather well,” he avers.

He feels that people are willing to experiment now more than ever before. “People dress in keeping with the current trend in the market. Rather than blindly following what’s in the market, people should get a designer to suggest clothes that suit an individual’s personality,” he advises.

When it comes to accessories, Manoviraj observes that a lot of people tend to dress stylishly but often ignore the shoes.

“What’s the point if you’re wearing something stunning, but don’t bother to match it with the right pair of shoes? The garment simply falls flat,” he says.

He also observes that Indians pick up garments based on the colour of their skin rather than the colour of the season. “In the West, you would find that people dress in keeping with the colour of the season but Indians often try to match the colour of their skin to the garment. This mindset must change a little,” he concludes.
