Rajasthan police on Monday arrested a peon working with the Ministry of Home Affairs after intelligence probe revealed him to be part of an espionage ring and the man who passed on highly classified information to a Pakistani spy.

Union home secretary RK Singh was livid on Monday morning when he learnt about Surendra Sharma, a peon attached with foreigners division of the ministry, was detained for passing on classified information to ISI mole Sumer Khan, arrested last month on charges of sending secret reports to Pakistan on Air Force exercise held at Pokhran.

At a meeting involving top officials of the ministry as well as an official from foreigners division, Singh expressed his anger over the breach of secrecy managed by Sharma, who culled out sensitive information such as the names of Pakistanis blacklisted by security agencies and passed it on to Khan, sources said.

It is also alleged that he tried to provide visa related information to the Pakistani spy.
After thorough interrogation, Sharma, also known as Chandrasekhar in espionage circles, was handed over to Jaipur police for formal arrest.

Earlier, state police had arrested Sumer Khan for passing a secret report on “Iron Fist”.
