Two men were killed and three sustained injuries as a sports utility vehicle (SUV) they were travelling by toppled on Nice Road near Vittalasandra Bridge early Monday morning.

Police said the heavily drunk driver was speeding and lost control of the vehicle, leading to the accident.

The deceased have been identified as Vishwanath and Santosh, both aged 22 years and residents of Parappana Agrahara. Nikhil Kumar, 23, Bhanukumar, 24,  and Manikantha were injured in the accident.

Critical

The condition of Manikantha is said to be critical while the other two are said to be out of danger. All of them are admitted to Blossoms Hospital on Hosa Road, Parappana Agrahara.

Police investigations have revealed that the SUV belonged to Bhanukumar's father, a civil contractor and it was Bhanukumar who was at the wheel.

On Sunday night, Bhanukumar and his four friends – Vishwanath, Nikhil Kumar, Santosh and Manikantha had gone out partying in Bhanukumar's car. The friends first went to Kudlu Gate where they had liquor at a dhaba.

They later went to Chandapura and had dinner and were on their way to Kanakapura Road through Nice Road when the accident occurred. Electronic City Traffic Police have registered a case.

Man found dead

An inebriated man reportedly fell to his death near his house in Kamakshamma Layout in Yelahanka early Monday morning.

Police have identified the deceased as Adi Narayana Reddy, 48, a native of Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh. Reddy was found dead near a drain with a severe head injury.
Reddy had recently migrated to the City and was working as a construction labourer. He stayed in a rented room in the layout.

Yelahanka Traffic police, who have registered a case, ruled out the possibility of a vehicle mowing down Reddy. Sources said he was heavily drunk and the spot where his body was found suggested he had lost balance and banged his head onto a rock by the road side, leading to severe head injury.
