New Chief Justice for State

Justice D H Waghela of the Gujarat High Court will be sworn in as Chief Justice of Karnataka on March 7, 2013. Governor H R Bhardwaj will administer the oath to Justice Waghela at the Raj Bhavan at 5.30 pm.

Justice Waghela enrolled as advocate in 1975 with the Bar Council of Gujarat and began his practice as an advocate in Rajkot. He was elected as Secretary of Labour Law Practitioners' Association for several years. He was elevated to the Bench of the Gujarat High Court as Additional Judge in September, 1999 and confirmed as permanent Judge on June, 2001. He is due to retire in August 2016.
