Party leaders in both the Houses, Siddaramaiah and V S Ugrappa held separate press conferences to clarify the party’s decision.
Both the leaders, on Monday, had announced that they would not take part in the delegation. However, much to their embarrassment, the Congress Union ministers from Karnataka joined the delegation in Delhi.
Siddaramaiah informed press persons that the party was not divided on the issue of being a part of the delegation. “Our party did not boycott the delegation. Instead we preferred to keep ourselves off the delegation as we deemed it unnecessary. Union ministers of Congress joined the delegation as representatives of Central government,” he said.

The leaders criticised the cancellation of Wednesday’s election to the post of president and vice president of Aenkal taluk panchayat. The government cancelled the election as there was complaint regarding kidnapping of a TP member.
