Police arrest auto thieves; seize vehicles in Hassan

Police on Saturday arrested two thieves at Rachenahalli gate near Shravanabelagola, Channarayapatna taluk, Hassan district, and have seized vehicles worth more than Rs six lakh.

Manjunath of Rajapura and Krishna of Nagayyanakoppal were apprehended by police, while the other accused Jagga of Rajapura managed to escape.

The trio were nabbed when they were pushing a Tata Esteem car near Rajapura gate.

Inspector A Marappa and his colleagues, who were on their way to Shravanabelagola grew suspicious about their behaviour and questioned them.

The gang fled from the scene, leaving behind the car.

The police however chased and made the arrests. The police has also seized three cars, two autos, and one bike, which the gang had stolen using duplicate keys.

The gang has stolen the vehicles from Peenya, Bangalore. The three, who had sold parts of the autorickshaws, had also planned to sell the cars.
