CBI quizzes cops in DySP murder case

Last Updated 09 March 2013, 17:55 IST

The much anticipated interrogation of sacked UP minister, Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, did not take place on Saturday as the CBI team which is probing Deputy Superintendent of Police  Zia-ul-Haq’s  killing were still in Kunda to quiz the cops who had deserted him when he was surrounded by a mob.

The CBI team grilled senior sub-inspector at Kunda Kotwali Vinay Singh, suspended SHO of Hathgawan police station Manoj Shukla and the DSP’s gunner Imran Ahmed. They were among the cops who had accompanied the slain DSP to the village but had fled from there after the DSP was surrounded by frenzied mob leaving him in the lurch.

Sources said that the CBI team has also sought the detail of crimes in Kunda area during the past three months. The sleuths are apparently trying to find out if Haq was probing some case that might have some connection with Raja Bhaiya, sources added.

The CBI team had reached the scene of crime at Walipur village on Friday. The agency has registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy against the sacked minister.

Meanwhile, Walipur village has virtually turned into a ghost village with a majority of the menfolk fleeing the village apprehending their interrogation by the CBI. Only women, children and old people have stayed back, reports said.

Even the shops near the village remained closed. A sense of fear is palpable on the face of the people. The officials have assured the people that there would be no harassment. Police said that it would be difficult to find eye witnesses to the crime.
