Chamaraja segment records no difference

JD(S) and Congress dominated the Chamaraja Assembly constituency limits with JD(S) winning in 10 wards and Congress banking nine wards of the Mysore City Corporation. The constituency consists of ward 20 and from 22 to 40.

The counting of votes from the wards under the constituency was held at Maharani College in the city on Monday. The counting process, which began at 8 am was completed by 12.30 pm and no untoward incident occurred.

M Shivanna, contesting on a JD(S) ticket from ward 26 won by a margin of 2,862 votes against his nearest opponent Prabhakar of BJP, which was the biggest win. Shiva, Congress candidate from ward 28 defeated his opponent Mahadeva of JD(S) by a margin of 2,484 votes, while C Ramesh, a JD(S) candidate from ward 28 won by a margin of 2,472 votes against his opponent B Vasudeva of the Congress.

Along with these landslide victories, there were also close calls. Rajeshwari from JD(S) edged over Radha, contesting on a BJP ticket by 58 votes in ward 33. In a close contest in ward 25, Mahadevappa from JD(S) received 2,703 votes against 2,656 votes of Jayaramachari from Congress, resulting in a victory by just 47 votes.
