Chatpat, located in a quiet corner in Basavangudi, offers much food for thought. It serves a host of dishes from lip-smacking snacks like bread pakora, samosa, pav bhaji and channa bhatura to a variety of coolers. Light on the pocket and made fresh, these dishes can be customised according to the choice of the visitors.

In the chaat section, there is bhel puri, pani puri, sev puri, dahi papdi, papdi chola samosa chaat and tikki chola. “This eatery was started around two years back and we have had very good response from people in and around the area. As we have stuck to the authentic method while preparing our dishes, people have responded well,” says Kapil, the owner of the eatery.

The place may be small, but it has something for all and the meals available in the
afternoon are very popular. They include phulka and dal curry, phulka, rice and dal
curry as well as rice and dal curry. Kapil says that a lot of young professionals and students throng the eatery for lunch and in the evening.

The food that we serve here is very different, it is home-made and the recipes are
authentic. We also have homemade nachos, which are pretty much in demand. However, the most popular items among all the dishes are the phulka dal and sabji. Many professionals come to our eatery during lunch time and order this platter. We also have families visiting us in the evening,” he adds.

For those who wish to sample some of the specialities on the menu, there are other varieties of chaat and pakodas available as well. Stick pakoda, chilli crispy fried vegetable, homemade nachos, bharwan mirchi chat, bhutta papad chaat, veg kaati roll, til tikha aloo, pav bhaji sandwich and chatpat bhutta are some of the special dishes here.

True to the name, the eatery is a mixed bag of tangy and hot flavours. In the evening, you get piping hot, fresh samosas right out of the kadai. These are served with a thick layer of meethi chutney as well as dhaniya chutney. One can also try the rice preparations here like the veg pulao and curry, fa ji tha rice, chola rice and veg biryani, which are available at an affordable rate.

The coolers are equally appealing. Sweet kesar lassi, salt pudina lassi, fresh lime soda, matka kulfi and for the ultimate dessert lovers, brownie with ice-creams can be relished here. The eatery is located at No 10 Model House Street, behind Balaji Medical Store, Basavanagudi. For details, call 9740521246.
