Last Updated 16 March 2013, 18:35 IST

The Special Lokayukta Court on Saturday granted conditional bail to Bangalore Rural Deputy Commissioner M K Aiyappa and three others with a direction to furnish a personal bond for Rs five lakh each.

Lokayukta judge N K Sudhindra Rao directed Aiyappa, Special Tahsildar Gopala swamy, Revenue Inspector Balakrishnamurthy and Sub-Registrar of Hesaraghatta K V Ravikumar to furnish two sureties each.

All the four were arrested in connection with a private complaint filed in the Special Lokayukta Court alleging illegal grant of government land. The Court directed the Lokayukta police to submit their final investigation report within four weeks.

Suspension

The State government will take a decision on initiating action against Aiyappa on Monday.
According to the sources in the Secretariat, the government received a letter from the Lokayukta police on the charges against Aiyappa on Saturday evening.

However, Aiyappa is deemed to have been placed under suspension as he has spent more than two days in police custody. He cannot report for duty even if an official suspension order is not issued, the sources said.

As per the Central and State Civil Rules, if a government servant is in detention for more than 48 hours he/she is deemed to have been placed under suspension.
