TAPMI students roll up their sleeves for DEFI in Manipal

Budding managers to test their capacity in materialising business ideas into enterprises during the three-day fest

DEFI enables the management students to gain first hand experience in running a business. Six teams will battle it out with each other, by running an innovative and sustainable venture for three days. The teams would compete against each other by materialising their business ideas into enterprises. The team that maximises its profits at the end of the three days would be declared the winner.

Selection process

Earlier, these six teams weathered the rigorous selection procedure conducted by the faculty of TAPMI to make it to the final round. Along with the profits made, the ethical practices in operations, accounting and marketing of the teams would also be under the scanner. There are also cash prizes for best promotion and innovative business ideas.
Last year, one of the teams provided the students with delicious Kaju Katli and Rajasthani lunch. Another team conducted Manipal Premier League - a box cricket competition for all the Manipal colleges.

The other ventures promoted board games in association with Café Coffee Day, conducted CAT coaching for the students and printed customised T-shirts.

One of the teams even undertook the arduous task of running a car and bike washing business.

The enthusiastic participation of not only the team members but the student community as a whole made the event an unparalleled success.

For this year, one of the teams has come up with the idea of selling Kati rolls - a fast food popular in Kolkata, and alien to Manipal.
