2 steal costly phones in airport, held

Two workers of a ground handling agency have been arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport for allegedly stealing costly smartphones worth over Rs 1 lakh from incoming cargo, CISF officials said.

They were intercepted by a CISF check squad when they were secretly getting out of the airport on Sunday evening.

“On their search, three brand new Samsung Galaxy mobile phones worth approximately Rs 1,05,000 were recovered,” CISF spokesperson Hemendra Singh said.

“They could not give a satisfactory reply about the mobile phones recovered from them when they were questioned.”

“On further enquiry, they disclosed that a consignment of mobile phones (in eight cartons) came by Thai Airways around 10.35 am on Sunday and they removed three phones from one carton when they were being brought from flight to cargo terminal on a trolley,” said Singh.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) authorities later handed them over to Delhi Police who arrested them, he said.
