JD(S) MLCs stage protest

Two JD(S) MLCs staged a dharna before the finance department in Vidhana Soudha to get their work done, on Monday.

MLCs Puttanna and Marithibbe Gowda staged the protest demanding release of pending salary as per the revised UGC norms for the teaching staff of the government I grade colleges. Teachers under the leadership of Puttanna had staged a protest on Friday in Bangalore demanding the release of arrears. In 2006, the Sixth Pay Commission recommended the UGC pay scale for the teaching staff. However, the revised pay was not paid.

Both the MLCs had come with mats, bedspreads and pillows to Vidhana Soudha to continue their agitation in the night too if their demands were not met by the finance department. The police took them to custody and released them later.

Puttanna later told the media that Rs 500 crore has to be released towards the arrears.
