Homemaker found murdered

Last Updated 19 March 2013, 20:25 IST

A home-alone woman was strangled at KG Nagar on Tuesday.

Manasa, 27, a native of Shidlaghatta in Kolar district, had been living with her husband Nagaraju, a native of Devanahalli, and their four-year-old son Adith, at Nanjappa Block in KG Nagar for the past five years. The couple had been married for seven years. Nagaraju worked as an executive in a private construction firm at Thannisandra. Manasa was a homemaker.

On Tuesday afternoon, on returning from school, Adith found his mother Manasa lying motionless in the hall and tried to wake her up. Hearing his cries, the landlord, Ramesh (name changed) arrived and found the boy wailing next to his mother’s body.

He informed the police that an unidentified man had visited the house at around 10.30 am.

Police shifted the body to Victoria Hospital where an autopsy was performed.
According to preliminary investigation, police suspect the perpetrator(s) might be someone known to the family since there was no indication of forcible entry into the house.

Local residents claimed that they had last seen Manasa seeing her son off to school in the morning.

The family told the police that jewellery and cash had been missing from the house.
A devastated Nagaraj said they had celebrated their son’s birthday barely 20 days ago. “A month later, we would have shifted to Yelahanka had this incident not taken place,” he said.
