BMTF probing BBMP staff role in building plan violation

Last Updated 20 March 2013, 19:00 IST

At least two Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) employees are under the scanner of the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF), which has registered an FIR in connection with a building plan violation in Seshadripuram.

The actions have led to a loss of revenue to the Palike, the estimate of which is not readily available.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, a top BMTF officer said: “We have arrested Sunil Kumar Solanki, the builder for plan violations, forgery, fabrication of documents and other crimes. We are now looking into the role of the officers who may have colluded with the builder.”

Going by the documents, Solanki, who had purchased a land measuring 1,200 sq ft behind the Seshadripuram police station (#13/2, South Park Road, Nehru Nagar, Bangalore-20) from a person named V S Suresh, has violated more than one law.

While Suresh had a plan (Ad.com/west/787/11-12) to construct two floors of residential property (ground floor, first and second) approved, Solanki, after having purchased the land, without having got the appropriate approvals, constructed five floors of commercial property on the same site.

Officials said any approved plan has a specific timeline, beyond which it has to be renewed. Even if the person in question is constructing within the specified timeline, he has to adhere to the plan strictly.

Deccan Herald had reported about the violations committed by Solanki in February this year.

Sources in BMTF said that the accused BBMP employees, whose names and designations were withheld as the investigation is going on, “have changed dates in the registers and also forged some other documents so as to aid the builder.”

“They are also named in the FIR. We will make their names public once we have enough evidence to apprehend them,” another source said.

Solanki, who has already been produced before a local court, is likely to get bail on Thursday.
