Dakshina Kannada district BJP unit president Padmanabha Kottari has said that the district BJP will organise an election campaign convention, at Nehru Maidan in Mangalore on March 29 at 4 pm. The convention will be attended by Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, State BJP unit President Pralhad Joshi, former CM Sadananda Gowda, Deputy CM Eshwarappa and others.

Addressing a press meet, he said that the booth-level workers will take part in the convention.

About 10 workers from each booth will take part. The BJP has been making all preparations for the BJP to come back to power in the State, to continue the development work carried out in the last five years.

Kottari said that the BJP will place before the voters on the achievement of the State government.

The process of selecting candidates for eight assembly constituencies has begun. “We are confident that the voters will bless the BJP in the State,” he said.

BJP former president Prathapsimha Nayak said that the ULB poll results was a warning bell to the BJP to set right the loopholes in the system. The ULB poll results will not have any impact on the Assembly polls, he claimed and added that BJP leaders will fight unitedly for its victory.

Corruption

Kottari said that former union minister Janardhan Poojary had administered an oath to the newly elected corporators against corruption.

Corruption charges against Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Veerappa Moily hit the headlines on the following day of administering oath. The UPA government has been involved in series of corruption cases including 2G spectrum, Commonwealth, Helicopter, loan waive off scheme and so on. Now, Moily’s corruption too has been added to the list of corruption charges, he said.

What can one expect from the UPA government which had tried to suppress the anti-corruption campaigns of Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev. What Janardhan Poojary has to say on the corruption charges? he asked.

Welcoming the move of the State government to sanction Kumki land to the farmers, he said that about three lakh farmers in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts will benefit from the move of the State government.
