India opener Murali Vijay felt the fourth Test between India and Australia was evenly poised and India were hoping for a better day on Sunday.

India, after a good start, crashed to 266 for 8 with off-spinner Nathan Lyon taking 5-94.

“The match situation is interesting. Things are evenly poised. It can go either way. We are just looking for a good day tomorrow. The runs we put up is going to be crucial,” Vijay said.

“Whatever target they set we have to chase, there are no two ways about it. We are looking for a good game.”

Vijay said the wicket was becoming difficult to bat on. “It is getting slower and lower, the cracks are opening up. It is difficult to know the speed of the delivery,” he said.

“It is very difficult to score runs on this wicket. It is very difficult to find the gaps because the wicket is getting slow, it is tough to judge the speed of the delivery. I think we did play well in patches. I could have stayed a little longer but got out at the wrong time, I guess.”

Personally it has been a very rewarding series for Vijay and said he was enjoying his cricket.

“It has been a good tournament for me, personally I am really enjoying at the moment. I just want to contribute to my team as much as I can,” said Vijay, who scored 57 on the day.
