Units 5 and 6 of Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) has been shut down following leakage of steam from pipelines of boilers.
Noticing that steam was leaking from the boiler of Unit 5, it was closed on Saturday. Unit 6 of the thermal power station was shut down, on Sunday, following a similar problem.
According to sources at the Raichur Thermal Power Station, Unit 5 might begin production of power by Sunday night. Whereas Unit 6 might resume producing power on Monday.
At present Unit 8 is producing 130 MW of power. Excluding Unit 5 and 6, power production at the RTPS now stands at 1,050 MW.
