Rungkat to spearhead challenge

Christopher Rungkat, ranked 251 in the world, will spearhead Indonesia’s campaign against India in the Asia Oceania Group I Davis Cup relegation tie at the KSLTA courts from April 5-7

To be led by non-playing captain, Hendri Susilo Pramono, the Indonesians will face a stiff challenge against India who they have not beaten in five attempts.

The other members of the Indonesian squad announced by their federation on Tuesday are Elbert Sie (ranked 880), Wisnu Adi Nugroho (1778) and David Agung Susanto (1355). The Indonesians with their last appearence coming way back in 1989, are scheduled to arrive here on March 31.

The Indians are expected to start assembling from March 30, hoping to bury the controversy that has haunted the team since the London Olympics’ selection row. Having lost their previous tie 1-4 to South Korea in New Delhi after fielding an under-strength squad, the Indians will be bolstered by the return Somdev Devvarman and Yuki Bhambri.
