3 kids die in rickshaw-jeep collision

Three students died on the spot and four others injured, when a jeep collided with the share autorickshaw (Tum Tum) they were travelling by, near Kurubaradinni Cross in Basavana Bagewadi taluk on Monday morning.

The victims, Sudeep Suresh Penteeda, 8, a Class II student, Sumeet Kudlesh Yedrami, 6, and Aakash Shivappa Penteeda, 6, students of Class I, were all residents of Tadlagi village, police said.

Aditya Anand Penteeda and Sunil Suresh Penteeda, residents of Tadlagi, Ankita Halli, a resident of Kubakaddi village and rickshaw driver Suresh Nandappa Vaarannavara, a resident of Hanumanapur, were injured in the accident.

The condition of Vaarannavara is said to be critical. “The students were on their way to a private tutorial centre near Halamatti Cross from Tadlagi, when the accident occurred,” said Superintendent of Police Ajay Hilori.
