The BSR Congress party got some more ‘glamour’ on Wednesday when ‘Nurse’ Jayalakshmi not only joined the party, but also announced she would contest the upcoming polls, if party chief B Sriramulu so wishes.

Participating in the inauguration of the party office at Bommanahalli in Bangalore, Jayalakshmi said though she had no plans to contest the elections, she would do so if Sriramulu so wishes. She joined the party in the presence of Somashekhara Reddy, the BJP legislator from Bellary.

Asked from where she would like to make her political debut, she said, “People are suggesting that I should contest from Honnali, because they feel I have the capacity to give a tough competition to Renukacharya. Somebody suggested I must contest from Rajajinagar. I will meet Sriramulu on Thursday and take a final decision.” She said she met former minister Janardhana Reddy in Hyderabad, when he was produced in court.

Jayalakshmi was in the news some years ago when she alleged ‘sexual harassment’ by the then BJP MLA Renukacharya. She had claimed that she was a nurse and was also running a nursing college. In the Bigg Boss reality show on a Kannada TV channel, she had expressed her desire to become chief minister.
