The decision to distribute fund to MLAs in the Rs 25 crore action plan for drinking water project in the district is an immature act, said ZP Congress members.Addressing a press meet, ZP Congress member V P Shashidhar said the present Zilla Panchayat is in the hands of BJP. Zilla Panchayat grants must be used by the ZP members for the developmental works in their constituency. However, rules have been neglected. ZP has decided to utilise Rs 1 crore fund through MLA.

Zilla Panchayat has taken a decision to provide a sum of Rs 7.25 crore to 29 Zilla Panchayat members. The ruling party has plotted to release the remaining fund to the constituency of Zilla Panchayat President, Vice-President and Standing Committee Presidents. This clearly shows that they are plotting to neglect the constituencies of the opposition members, alleged Shashidhar.

If government provides Rs 25 crore grant to every district, then state government requires Rs 2,000 crore. Moreover, government has not earmarked any additional fund in the budget.

Zilla Panchayat former President Deerghakeshi Shivanna said though Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa announced Rs 25 crore special package to Kodagu, so far only Rs 5 crore has been released. The ruling party should strive for the release of Rs 20 crore.

Shashidhar said Zilla Panchayat Junior Engineer Suresh has completed a development work at an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh without intimating Aloor Aiddapura ZP constituency Member Rajamma Rudraiah. The Junior Engineer should be suspended immediately.

Zilla Panchayat members Bhanumathi, Rajamma Rudraiah, former members S N Narasimhamurthy, TP Standing Committee on SOcial Justice President G R Pushpalatha were present.
