Speaking to media persons here, he expressed pleasure over the victory of Moily whom he considers his political guru.
Congress has polled highest votes in Bagepalli Assembly constituency of Chikkaballapur LS constituency. It is an indication that people have reposed faith in Congress, he expressed stating that party had gained 49,521 votes as against BJP’s 30,307 and thus registered a lead of nearly 20,000 votes. The lead is significant as none of the Congress’s winning candidates in LS polls from State have gained similar lead in their respectively Assembly constituencies, he added. It is only in Bagepalli that Congress had got such lead, an elated Sampangi said.

Paying back

It is said that when Veerappa Moily was the chief minister of the State, he nominated Sampangi to State Sports Authority equal to the rank of a State minister and had provided for his political growth. Now by playing a crucial role in the victory of his guru he has paid back the favour. However things weren’t all good as a faction of Congress campaigned against Moily and the infighting in the party became street fights. In spite of these events, voters voted for Congress thereby expressing their solidarity.
Greetings
Sampangi also congratulated the Ashwathappa and Ravindra Reddy who were unanimously elected to the post of President and Vice-President of Taluk Panchayat in a election held on Monday. There should be no scope for differences or groupism and everybody should work for the development, he admonished newly elected leaders.Zilla Panchayat Vice-President Chenduru Venkatesh was present.
