Giving example, the JDS state unit president told reporters here that on an average, the proposed flyover measuring 6.5 km from Hebbal to High Grounds in the city works out to cost as high as Rs 85 crore per km.

The Lok Sabha member said Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa should resign owning moral responsibility or take action against BBMP officials, including Commissioner Bharat Lal Meena, for the tender which he alleged was intended to "make money".

He charged BBMP with failing to come out with a plan or design prior to floating the tender and wondered how nearly Rs 13,000 crore could be raised.

"Total tax generated by BBMP in a year is Rs 700 crore. This being the situation, how can they raise Rs 13,000 crore? How do they plan to mobilise funds for the 12,973.99 crore project?" he asked.

"Details like - which road, where it starts and ends, what is the drainage and the design, what is the map, what are the materials to be used and what is the quality of materials --are missing. Is this not like opening an easy door for corruption and corrupt practices ?" he said.
