Linen is here to stay

Linen Club Fabrics of Jaya Shree Textiles, a unit of Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd has opened its second exclusive showroom ‘Linen Club The Ramp’ in the City. 

Linen is one among the more popular fabrics today. Abhey Nair, Vice President of the Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd observes, after inaugurating the showroom, that linen is an all season fabric but wasn’t this popular when it was introduced a few years ago. He further observed that linen required a peculiar kind of climatic condition to grow.  And this type of weather is found only in France and Belgium. The soil conditions too must be conducive for the same. The fabric is also suited for the City weather conditions as it keeps one warm during winter and cool at summer time. It has been nicknamed the health fabric because of its anti bacterial quality. It allows the skin to breathe easy and is absorbent which helps one stay cool.
Linen doubles up both as a formal wear and upholstery, kitchen cloth. In the formal line, linen is extensively used in trousers, skirts, shirts, suits, jackets for both men and women and also in ethnic wear like wedding dresses, kurta pyjamas and sherwanis.
