BBMP: Documents damaged in rain

Last Updated 26 October 2009, 20:03 IST

The Jayanagar zone office of the local body has admitted, in a reply to RTI application, that the documents sought by the applicant have been damaged in the recent rain havoc.
There were complaints that ‘Chat’ shop in Jayanagar was selling sub-standard food. Vikram Sinha, a resident, got ill after consuming food at the shop and decided to take up the matter with  the higher ups.

He filed an RTI application seeking a copy of the licence issued to the shop, the related DCB register and certified copy of the inspection of the health inspectors and food inspectors.
The Health official of Jayanagar BBMP office, in reply, has stated that the documents sought have been drenched in the recent rain and are yet to be reclaimed. The authority has sought time to furnish the information “once the file is located.”

Vikram Simha alleged that these are lame excuses meant to evade answers. “This so-called rain related damage in the BBMP’s record room will give opportunity to the officials to tamper records,” he said.
