The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands has opened a Consulate in Bangalore on Friday. Irfan Vazirally has been appointed as Honorary Consul.

The consulate’s primary task will be to provide assistance to Dutch nationals, and handle official and economic representation.

“Visa queries will be handled by the VFS centre in Shivajinagar. The consulate will have jurisdiction over Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, and Kerala,” an official said.

Alphonsus Hermanus Maria, the Dutch Ambassador to India said it was only natural that a consulate was opened in Bangalore given the kind of growth that the City is witnessing, and considering the various business and trade agreements between the Dutch government and Karnataka.

Irfan Vazirally, while stating that the Government of Karnataka has entered into several agreements with the Dutch, also pointed out that there are several Dutch companies established here.
