A bi-annual merit scholarship award ceremony was recently held at PES University.     About 1,322 meritorious students chosen from a student body of 6,834 were honoured with Prof CNR Rao and Prof MRD merit scholarships totalling to Rs 3 crore.

The event was graced by chief guest Ananth Kumar, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Chemicals and Fertilizers. Dr M R Doreswamy, Chancellor, PES University, presided over the function.

Addressing the audience, the chief guest congratulated all the awardees and said, “I am overwhelmed to be in the company of such young and bright minds.”

He appreciated Dr Doreswamy for his untiring efforts in recognising the meritorious students on campus.

He also highlighted the purpose behind awarding scholarships as put by the chancellor, “Eminent personalities including Sir C V Raman and Dr Abdul Kalam could achieve milestones through a scholarship. Thus, the scholarship is a factor for inspiration and motivation.”

Delivering the presidential remarks, Dr Doreswamy congratulated all the scholarship awardees.

Further, he also applauded the efforts of parents and teachers in encouraging the students.
He advised the youth to keep Prof CNR Rao as their role model and aim for even greater recognition.

He said that it is a proud moment for everyone as “PES University was declared the best young university in the state of Karnataka as per the survey of Karnataka State Higher Education Council.”
