JD(S) plaint against poll mascot

The JD(S) has submitted a complaint to the Election Commission seeking an inquiry into the violation of the model code of conduct by cine actor Aindrita Ray, who is one of the mascots for the EC to create public awareness on voting.

It is alleged that Ray, despite being the official face of the Election Commission, campaigned with the national leaders of BJP on May 3 in Bangalore.

“Being the campaigner for the EC and the voting process, it was not right on her part to campaign for any political party. We will inquire into the matter and take appropriate action,” Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha said.
