<p>On the eve of the Assembly elections, workers of two political parties allegedly clashed with each other in the sensitive Chamarajpet constituency on Saturday morning.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Congress activists said some JD(S) workers led by Ayub, a rowdy from Tippu Nagar, barged into the house of their party worker Babar, also a resident of the same area, and beat him up and his family members, telling him to stop working for the Congress.<br /><br />Apart from Babar, the gang also beat up three women at his house – Nazma, Mousin Taj and Nazima Taj.<br /><br />Babur identified the attackers as Ayub, Shabbir, Chand, Nadeem, Wasim and two others, police said.<br /><br />Nazma told Deccan Herald, “We heard some commotion and we rushed out of our room to see what was happening. We saw some men beating up my husband Babar. When I and two of my cousins intervened and tried to reason with them, they thrashed us, too.”<br /><br />In his complaint to the Chamarajpet police, Babar said his attackers, belonging to the JD(S), had threatened to eliminate him if he continued to work for the Congress.<br /><br />Babar alleged the same gang had attacked another Congress worker in Tippu Nagar, but no police complaint was lodged.<br /><br />As Babar and his family members rushed to the police station, the JD(S) functionaries tried to prevent them from lodging a complaint and sought a compromise. However, Babar went ahead and lodged a complaint. Chamarajpet police have registered a case.</p>
