After weeks of campaigning it all boiled down to Sunday, when people came to cast their votes to bring in much-needed change.

Spotted among the public were Sandalwood’s popular faces, who came out with families and proved themselves to be real-life role models.

Apart from Ramya, Pooja Gandhi, Ambarish, Sumalatha Ambarish, Rakshita and others who are active in politics, other artistes like Ramesh Aravind, ‘Lovely
Star’ Prem, Aindrita Ray, Sanjjanaa and Sindhu Loknath also came to exercise their franchise.

They didn’t draw much attention to themselves and after voting, proudly sported the ink mark on their left ring finger.

Many avoided the heat and the crowds by heading to their polling booths early. One among them was actor-director Ramesh Aravind, who — like all citizens — wished for more transparency, accountability as well as proper use of public funds from the new government.

“It’s the responsibility of every citizen of the State to come out and vote. As for the new government, I wish they seriously consider this as a great opportunity for Karnataka rather than indulge in personal gains. I hope they put the development of the State before anything else,” adds Ramesh, who voted at the polling booth in Banashankari II Stage.

Actress Ramya too went as early as nine in the morning to the polling booth at Bishop Cotton Girls’ School.

She was active on Twitter through the day, encouraging her fans to vote and even
posting a picture of her inked finger.

“This is your chance to exercise your right and be heard. Vote Maadi,” she tweeted. Actress Aindrita, who has been campaigning for youngsters to vote, adds, “It’s time our voices are heard. And by voting, we are exercising our right. I want to see many changes in the State, including better roads, street lights, better infrastructure and definitely better waste management.”

Sporting a black tee and jeans, actress Sindhu Loknath cast her vote at Vijaynagar. “The very first change I want to see is in the people who will be elected. We will see the City prosper only if they are responsible and sincere. If they don’t change, then nothing will change,” she states.

‘Lovely Star’ Prem too cast his vote on Sunday. He believes it’s time the educated come out and vote for the educated.

“These future MLAs will be the representatives of our State, so we need to do our research before we cast our votes. Looking at the state our City is in, we really need a drastic makeover — first for our roads, then the Metro and the need for providing water.
We need educated people, who can come out and make a difference in our State,” he says.
