Former minister S N Krishnaiah Setty joined the Congress, along with his supporters, in the presence of K H Muniyappa, Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, in the town on Monday.
Muniyappa said Setty was earlier with the Congress, but had quit the party due to lack of opportunities. He would get a suitable position in the party in future, Muniyappa said.
Setty said he was returning to the Congress without any pre-conditions. However, 12 Town Municipal Council members, who had won the last elections to the Council under Setty’s leadership, have decided to continue with the BJP.
