Last Updated 15 May 2013, 17:01 IST

Premier football club Boca Juniors launched their Boca Juniors Football School India (BJSFI) in Bangalore on Wednesday.

The Argentinian club, home to big names such as Diego Maradona, Gabriel Batistuta and Carlos Tevez, joins a list of international clubs to make their foray on the Indian shores.

While clubs such as Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Barcelona have already set up camps, Boca Juniors will be the first from Latin America to set a shop here. The first camp will be held at the APB ground here from June 10 to 14. The year-long camp will be held in various venues across the City from July 1.

“Football is growing in popularity in India year by year and we strongly believe we can play a role in developing the sport,” Daniel Angelici, chairman of Boca Juniors.
