Last Updated 18 May 2013, 19:05 IST

Mahesh, 30, an auto driver from Kollegal, and resident of BEL Road here, was found murdered with his throat slit. His body, according to the police, was dumped in an abandoned autorickshaw in Phase IV of Yelahanka New Town.

The incident came to light when a passerby alerted the police about the body in the auto parked behind Neha Prakash Hospital. According to DCP (North-East) T R Suresh, investigations led them to the owner of the autorickshaw, Nanjesh, a resident of Lottegollahalli.

On being taken to the spot, he identified the deceased as Mahesh. Incidentally, Nanjesh had rented out his autorickshaw to Mahesh. It was a week ago that Nanjesh was introduced to the deceased by another auto driver. Police are questioning the auto driver who introduced Mahesh to Nanjesh.

Mahesh, it is understood, has been an auto driver in the City for the past couple of years.
The body has been shifted to Dr B R Ambedkar Medical Hospital for autopsy. Suresh said, though Mahesh's throat was slit, there were no blood stains or signs of struggle in the autorickshaw, suggesting that the assailants had murdered him elsewhere before disposing of the body in the vehicle.
