'Love is a special feeling'

Actor-director Prabhu Deva has set new standards with his inimitable style of functioning in Bollywood. In a short time, as a director, he has worked with some of the best actors and is moving at a pretty fast pace. “There is a lot of pressure but I am enjoying it. There are two or three subjects that I am working on simultaneously,” says Prabhu Deva.

Prabhu Deva’s next film, Ramaiya Vasta Vaiya, which is slated for a July release, is
a romantic comedy that has Shruti Hassan and debutant actor Girish Kumar, son of producer Kumar Taurani, in lead roles.

All Prabhu Deva’s films have had its fair share of romance. “Romance and action are two subjects that I wouldn’t mind exploring over and over again. Who isn’t lovestruck at least once in their lifetime? Love is a special feeling,” he observes.

Prabhu is all praises for the actors. He feels Shruti Hassan not only has good looks but is also a talented actress. As for Girish, Prabhu feels he has worked hard and being from
a film background, Girish has had enough exposure in film-making.

Prabhu Deva dubs his latest venture as a ‘visual treat’.

“After a ten-day shooting schedule overseas, we returned to shoot a large portion of the film in a village setting. The story is deep-rooted in the culture and tradition of the country. We don’t get to see a lot of the village life captured in the films today,” Prabhu Deva observes.

Prabhu Deva is not only impressed with the songs but has gone a step further and grooved with Jacqueline Fernandez for a song titled Jaadu Ki Jhappi.

“This song wasn’t really planned but the team thought about it and I contributed my bit to the song,” he says.

Ramaiya Vasta Vaiya has a brilliant line-up of actors. It has veteran actors Randhir Kapoor and Vinod Khanna playing prominent roles in the film. Prabhu cherishes every moment he has spent with them on and off the sets. “They have such vast experience and have so much to share. And even after all these years, they still give a director a lot of respect.

That is much appreciated,” observes Prabhu.

Prabhu will soon start working on his next film Rambo Rajkumar with Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles. “Shahid plays the character of Rambo and the film is just as entertaining as its title. It’s a love story but has right doses of action. Shahid will be doing some daring stunts for the very first time,” he adds.
