ICC all for high scoring one-dayers and T20s

A senior official of the Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that they had also received the letter sent out by the ICC.

"The ICC has sent out a detailed letter and asked all member nations to work on preparing pitches that are sporting and encourage high scoring matches," chief operating officer, Wasim Bari said.

The ICC came in for some criticism recently during the Champions Trophy in South Africa when the pitches used for the tournament produced some low scoring matches.

Similar complaints about the pitch were also recorded during the Champions League T20 event in India where many matches turned out to be low scoring ones with the batsmen struggling on difficult surfaces.

"The PCB will obviously do its best to follow the ICC advice but in the past also we have produced some very good pitches for one-day and T20 matches at domestic and international level in our country," Bari said.

The former Test captain agreed that there was a need to have more sporting and even pitches so that matches were closely fought and there was more entertainment value for the spectators and viewers.
