<p>A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 21-year-old youth in her house at north-east Delhi’s Seemapuri on Monday. The accused was beaten up by locals and handed over to police.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Accused Alam is a resident of Seemapuri block E. Police said the girl was alone in her house in Seemapuri block F when the incident took place around 11 am.<br /><br />“She stays with her family, but her father is presently in Kolkata for some work, while her mother had gone to a bank and her 10-year-old brother had gone to play in a nearby park,” a police officer said.<br /><br />The victim told police that she was taking a bath when Alam barged into the house around 11 am.<br /><br />He alleged thrashed and gagged the girl, and went onto rape her.<br /><br />Alam was still in the house when the girl’s brother returned. “He raised an alarm due to which Alam got scared and fled from the house,” the officer added.<br /><br />Neighbour helped <br /><br />The girl’s brother then informed their neighbour Shaan Ali, who rushed to help the girl and informed police.<br /><br />Sources said the girl’s condition had deteriorated due to the cloth stuffed in her mouth.<br /><br />She almost fainted<br /><br />“She was almost unconscious when neighbours rushed to help,” sources added.<br />Police took her to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. A medical examination of the girl was also conducted which confirmed sexual assault.<br /><br />Furious over the girl’s condition, locals began a search for Alam in the neighbourhood. “He was traced around two hours after the attack from a park in Dilshad Colony,” the officer said.<br /><br />The accused was cornered by the locals and was beaten up before being handed over to police.<br /><br />A case of rape has been registered against Alam with Seemapuri police station. He also faces charges under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.<br /></p>
