JOIN USMuralidharan (27) was arrested after the victim, who reached the country a week ago along with a group of 29 British tourists, reported to the police that the guide attempted to sexually assault her at a Kapashera guesthouse on Friday night.
A senior police official said Muralidharan was booked for attempt to rape.
The victim alleged that Murlidharan attempted to rape her on Friday night after entering her room.
“After recording her statement, we arrested Murlidharan. His medical examination is being conducted to know whether he was drunk. He will be produced in court tomorrow,” he said.
The girl and the group of tourists have left the country after the victim recorded her statement before metropolitan magistrate under section 164 CrPC this morning, the official said.
The group had checked in a guesthouse, Ashoka Niketan Guest House in Kapashera, on Friday as the place was close to the airport and they had to catch a flight the next day.
