JOIN USActing on a complaint from Goutham, 24, an engineer, Cottonpet police on Tuesday arrested Salman, within hours for having threatened and robbed the former of his valuables.
A resident of Chamarajpet, Goutham was returning home from his relative’s house in Hampi Nagar at about 8.15 am when Salman asked for a lift at Tank Road Junction, Goripalya, the police said.
Obliging, Goutham went into the narrow bylanes of Old Pension Mohalla, where Salman wanted to be dropped off. As he stopped his bike near a mosque, two other men, sitting in an autorickshaw got out and snatched the bike keys from Gotuham.
Salman and the two men, one of whom wielded a knife, asked Goutham to give them his wallet and mobile phone. The gang took Rs 900 in cash and the phone. Goutham then lodged a complaint with Cottonpet police, who were able to arrest Salman.
The other two are at large. The police said they were helped by a boy, an eyewitness in the case.
