<p>A 15-year-old who is paralysed below the waist has beaten all odds to score a perfect 10 Cumulative Grade Point Average in class 10 board exams. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Shreya Yadav, a student of Lions Public School, Gurgaon, got 10 CGPA in English, Mathematics, Science, Sankrit, and Social Science. <br /><br />She says she was confident that she would do well. “I was 90 per cent hopeful that I will do well. But the thought of Maths scared me,” the elated teenager told Deccan Herald.<br />Shreya accredits her parents — her father is a businessman and mother a homemaker — for her success. <br /><br />“My parents have always been very supportive, especially my mother. <br />She has stood by my side at every step,” she says. “My teachers have also helped me throughout the journey,” she added.<br /><br />Shreya says that one must work hard to succeed in life. “Working hard is a habit. Everyone must pursue his dreams. He must focus on what he wants,” says the teenager. “I prefer studying at night. <br /><br />I used to study two to three hours daily and on weekends I would study if only I felt like it.” She adds, “During exams I used to study in the day and revise at night. I never went to bed if I had not revised the portion that I had completed in the day.”<br /><br />Turning point<br /><br />Once she had got a merit certificate that proved a turning point for her. “I stood first in class 3. My parents were called and I was presented a scholar’s badge by school authorities. It was a turning point for me,” says Shreya. “Since then I had decided that I can make my parents proud by scoring good marks. So I started concentrating in the studies.” <br /><br />Looking ahead<br /><br />Shreya wants to become a lawyer. “I have taken up Humanities, though everyone is asking me to opt for medical or non-medical. But I want to take up law in higher studies so I am making my base strong now,” says 15-year-old. She took the Central Board of Secondary Education exam under the orthopaedic impaired category.</p>
