After the BJP, it is now the turn of the ruling Congress to take up alterations inside the Vidhana Soudha. A partition wall connecting two rooms allotted to Forest Minister B Ramanath Rai was demolished on Tuesday in order to make the minister's chambers bigger.

The Public Works Department, which maintains the Vidhana Soudha, pulled down the partition wall of rooms 304 and 305, located on the third floor. While 304 was the minister's chambers, 305 was his office. The renovated office will be divided by a wooden wall. In 2012, Shankar Patil Munenkoppa, who was political secretary to the then Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, had ordered the demolition of a partition wall.

Legislative Council Chairman D H Shankarmurthy had also got some renovation done in his chambers. The Congress, which was then in the opposition, had opposed the renovation.
