A City court on Wednesday remanded Rajesh L Reddy, who drove the Audi car that killed one and badly injured two persons on Sunday, in police custody for two days.

Rajesh was arrested by the Ashok Nagar police and has been booked under Sec 304 of the IPC for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Though the 11th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate had remanded him in 14 days’ judicial custody on Tuesday evening, the Ashok Nagar police on Wednesday sought Rajesh’s custody claiming they did not have enough time to interrogate him in connection with the case.

Rajesh’s lawyer had moved a plea for his bail but the judge quashed the plea, and sent Rajesh to two days’ police custody.

Driver’s condition bad

The grievously injured 26-year-old auto driver, Yunus Ali is being treated at the Bowring Hospital.

Lying on the bed, Ali, does not talk to anyone, even with his wife or mother. Ali was badly injured, when his vehicle was hit by Reddy’s Audi car near Mayo Hall.

Sitting beside him at the hospital, his wife was inconsolable. “The doctors said he will not be able to use his right leg. He is not even talking to us. Ali has been driving the auto for about eight years now. But, he may not be able to drive anymore, if he does not recover completely. I’m illiterate and we have a one-and-half-year-old daughter,” said his wife.
