NRI couple booked for rape of 2 sisters

The incident came to light on Sunday when the two sisters in their complaint to police alleged that on Saturday evening they, along with their mother, were taken to an Non Resident Indian’s residence for preparing food, by Charanjit Singh, driver of the NRI identified as Jasbir Singh, who recently returned from England, police sources said.

The complainant alleged that the NRI deliberately sent Gurmeet Kaur, the mother, to the market for some work and later on forcibly raped the girls.

3 others involved

The police said the victims alleged that they were raped by Charanjit Singh and his friend Gurcharan Singh also, apart from the NRI. The victims said Kamaljit Kaur, the NRI’s wife, came to the spot of the crime along with a person identified as Manga, but instead of helping the victims, she threatened them of dire consequences, if they reported the matter to police, sources said.

When the victims narrated the whole story to their mother, they decided to report the matter to the police station concerned.  The sources said medical examination of the victims was conducted on Sunday.

Meanwhile, a case under various sections of Indian Penal Code has been registered against the five persons for allegedly raping, threatening the victims and sheltering the accused.

While driver Charanjit Singh and his associate Gurcharan Singh were arrested, the NRI couple along with their associate were yet to be arrested. The matter is still under investigation and the NRI will be arrested if the rape is confirmed in the medical report, the sources added.
