Sporting face Chirag challenge

Last Updated 01 November 2009, 17:23 IST

With three wins and two draws, Chirag United are sitting on top, alongside Dempo, with 11 points and are looking to keep their unbeaten run intact against the Goan side who are at the bottom with one point from four matches.

Chirag’s coach Subroto Bhattacharya will be looking on their Brazilian trio — strikers Edmislon Marques and Joshimar and defender Edward for a victory.

Sporting finished third last season but things are not gong well for coach Roy Barreto’s side as they have managed just one point from their first three games.

Meanwhile, Salgaocar SC will be under pressure when they face a confident Lajong FC, which will be backed by a full-capacity stadium, in a sixth round encounter of the ONGC I-League. Lajong have been a confident lot having beaten Air India 3-0 at home and lost narrowly to Mohun Bagan 1-2 in their last match here.
