Culture, folk treasure unveils at literary meet

The eighth Udupi district Kannada Sahitya Sammelan was preceded by a wonderful cultural bonanza in the form of huge procession here at Ananthapadbhanabha auditorium on Thursday.

The procession was the replication stimulating the promotion of Kannada language in various forms. The rich cultural and folk treasure of the state was displayed on the occasion.

Every archetype, exhibited on the occasion was mesmerizing. Although, the displays were not many in number, the exhibits that were shown on the occasion were indeed artistic.

The folk dance forms like “Veeragase,” “Dollukunitha” and “Kamsale” were the cynosure of all eyes. The creative skills displayed by the artistes was indeed the banquet of excitement.

The “Kolata” was another attraction. The procession comprised of parade by the students carrying placards carrying the Kannada alphabets.
A book exhibition was organised on the occasion. It was inaugurated by the former Coastal Development Authority President Tingalay Vikramarjuna Hegde.

 The expo consisted of book stalls comprising volumes of various categories.
The books displayed on the occasion were for all age categories, right from children to adults.

The books on medicinal plant species and Ayurveda medicine were also displayed.
An art exhibition was organised and was inaugurated by the veteran artist Nadoja Ramesh Rao. The pictures in the expo were the paintings of landscapes, abstract and oil paintings on canvas. Many numbers of artistes from the district contributed to the display.
