Taking a dig at the BJP over absence of its key leaders at the party’s Goa conclave, the Congress on Friday said, “NaMonitis is spreading” in the state.

Party spokesperson Renuka Chowdhary said: “NaMonitis virus is spreading in Goa. Our
advice to the chief minister is to take effective counter measures otherwise it will affect tourism.”

The Gujarat chief minister is also known as “NaMo” among his supporters. The Goa conclave is likely to decide on giving a larger role to Modi in the coming days.

Chowdhary said, due to talk of Modi’s elevation, several BJP leaders were skipping the meet.

The AICC spokesperson’s comments came as several BJP leaders were reportedly skipping the conclave and even 85-year-old Advani stayed away citing ill-health.

“Due to Modi, senior leaders of the BJP are falling sick,” Congress leader Rashid Alvi remarked. “The BJP should think what will happen to the country because of him. My full sympathies to those who are falling sick due to Modi” he added.

“Modi group has chased away Advani group within the BJP,” said another Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed.
