The graduation ceremony of the 2012 batch of BMS College of Engineering was held recently. It proved to be full of surprises and a sense of togetherness for the students who attended it. After a brief formal ceremony, where they were conferred with their certificates and the toppers were awarded with medals, the students were free to catch up with their old friends, classmates and faculty members.

The outgoing batch was more than happy to spend some time with their friends and exchange fond memories of their time in the college since it had been six months since they’d seen each other. Prateeksha, who attended the programme, was thrilled to spend time with her friends. “It was a memorable day for me. It was special and we were all waiting for this moment. My mother accompanied me as well. Many parents had come to see the graduation ceremony — it was a joyous occasion for all of us. The best part of the programme was definitely meeting old buddies. Spending time with them and getting to know what they are doing and what their future plans are was lovely. I loved every bit of the time spent with them,” she says.

For many, it was a walk down the memory lane. They could be seen talking to their teachers and sharing memories. The teachers in turn shared their experiences and advised the students about what they should focus on in the future. Srinidhi Aital, an outgoing student, was excited about attending the programme and made sure to take many pictures of the occasion. “All of us were waiting with bated breath to be a part of this programme. After six months of not seeing each other and not meeting any of our teachers, we finally got to relive our time in college. That phase was very special since it was a crucial part of our lives. Though I have been in touch with most of my friends and teachers, it was definitely a pleasure to see them all together,” he notes. The students utilised the time after the programme to talk and socialise with their classmates and students of other departments. All in all, it was quite a nostalgic occasion.
