In view of encouraging milk producers and providing quality milk to consumers, a proposal would be submitted to the Mysore-Chamarajanagar Milk Producers’ Union Limited (Mymul) board to open eight new Bulk Milk Centres (BMC), said Mymul Director H S Basavaraju.
He was speaking after laying foundation stone for H D Forest Milk Producers’ Cooperative Society in the taluk on Wednesday. “Already works are under progress for BMCs at Venkataiahna Chattra, Amachavadi, Mudnakudu and Aralikatte villages on the premises of Milk Producers’ Cooperative Societies.
The centres are being established with funds from National Dairy Development Board. Funds will be sought from the National Cooperative Development Corporation for the new centres,” he said.
New centres
He said that the new centres have been planned at Kellamballi, B Mallaiahnapura, Byadamudlu, Mangala, Bommanahalli (Chikkahole), Puttanagara and other villages.
Director Vimala said that Mymul was getting 5.70 lakh litre milk daily. Even though there was demand for milk across the district, it was not reaching the consumers. So, BMCs would help provide quality milk to consumers.
Society president S R Ramaswamy, secretary Shivakumar, Mymul extension officer S Nagaraju and others were present.
