Rajnath calls on Sena chief to discuss NDA crisis

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh on Tuesday met Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray at the latter’s residence in Bandra to discuss the current crisis in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The Shiv Sena is one of the oldest NDA members.

Later, on Wednesday, Singh said Thackeray made it clear that the Shiv Sena would continue in the NDA “as it had full confidence in the alliance.” BJP state unit chief Devendra Fadnavis and Mumbai unit head Ashish Shelar had accompanied Singh to Thackeray’s residence.

Soon after a crisis broke out in the BJP after its senior-most leader Lal Krishna Advani put in his papers over the Modi issue, the Shiv Sena had called In a three-paragraph release issued by the Shiv Sena then, Uddhav said: “One cannot think of the NDA or the BJP without mentioning the names of Atal Behari Vajpayee or Lal Krishna Advani. Their contribution to the growth of the NDA is invaluable.”
